Greetings,

What happens when an email user using KOC flags a message as spam? Does KOC communicate it back to the Kerio mail server? Say next time the sender sends the same message to a different user, will it be flagged as spam or not?

Thanks!
Binh

It's not so simple.

When flagged as spam, KOC (or Webmail for that matter) will indeed report back to KMS and the Bayes engine will adapt itself. Bayes will look at certain features of the message (headers, words, type of email, etc.). The next time a 'similar' such a message comes in, it will be more likely that it will be flagged as spam. This also depends on other factors, such as what others did with similar messages (Bayes learning is server-wide, not per user), what the spam thresholds are, etc.

When using KOC, I notice there's a "spam" and "not spam" button in the toolbar. Is this one different from the Microsoft built-in "Junk Email" context option when you right-click on a message?

Thanks!

Yes, Kerio's buttons are about server-side spam actions, the other is about Outlook's own client-side junk protection.
