We are setting up a new group inside our network that will, for a short time, run their own Exchange server inside our network but their users will need their addresses to be within our existing domain (company.com). So, user1<_at_>company.com will have mail on our Kerio server while user2<_at_>company.com will have their mail live on the temporary Exchange server (eventually it will move to the KMS box). We'd also like their outbound mail to route through our KMS box.

Does anyone know the best way to accomplish this? Thanks.

Make you KMS the primary mail server and set it up to forward unknown users to the Exchange server (can be setup in the domain settings, forwarding tab). Then all unkown users are forwarded to Exchange (and Exchange can drop the messages if still unknown there). (This does mean that all messages to any address are accepted by KMS.)

Then, on the Exchange machine, setup KMS as the relay server.

Yep !!
It's very easy to make Kerio as Relay Server.
I have 10 customers in this same case ! nice product and very easy to configure !
Goto with admin console -> Configuration-> Domains, Add new domain and forwarding on your IP exchange.
